2011-12 Pre-Season Outlook

8/9/11 -  With mini-camp just a little less than two weeks away, the varsity and several freshman players have been training off ice for the last five plus weeks in preparation for mini-camp and the upcoming season.

With the departure of two senior defensemen, Derek Baser and Joshua Stell along with forward Sam Lafferty going off to prep school, the Golden Tigers have some huge gaps to fill offensively and defensively.

The Golden Tigers will be looking for its underclassmen to step up and provide leadership and scoring.  Returning for his junior year is Macky Power who finished in the top five in scoring last year in the PIHL Open division.  Offense will hopefully come by committee with the likes of Sophomores Kent Brustle, Hunter Shields, Johnny Johnson, Christian Ditillio and Mitch Gregory and Juniors Andrew Hines and Alec Heininger.

Returning for their senior years are Forwards Alex Satkunas and Tanner Sidehamer along with Defenseman Joel Schocker.  Much will be needed from these seniors if the Golden Tigers expect to have a successful 2011-12 campaign.

There are some up and coming Freshman players that will be given ample opportunity showcase their skills.  They include Jerome Landry, Andrew Vonada, Brandon Ritchey and Goaltender Brandon Amigh

The player that will probably have a huge influence on the success of the 2011-12 Golden Tigers will be very solid Junior Netminder Matt Gregory.  However, in order for Gregory to put up the numbers he has in the past, his teammates will have to play consistent, hard-nosed team defense in all three zones.

It should be a very interesting and exciting season, one that any Golden Tiger hockey fan won't want to miss.

GO GOLDEN TIGERS!

HASIHA to Hopefully Field Two Freshman Teams this Season

8/9/11 - The HASIHA will again attempt to field two freshman teams for the 2011-12 season.  This, of course, is dependent upon if we have the player numbers to do so and if we have enough coaches.  One team will play in the PIHL and the other will play in the LMHL.  The LHML team usually consists of less experienced and younger players that require further development and serves as a spring board to the PIHL team and eventually to the varsity team.

Please encourage anyone you know that is interested in playing ice hockey this season to attend our mini-camp being held from August 23rd through the 31st.
