Tournament Rules & Game Format
Freshman - Three Stop Clock Periods, 12-12-12; Varsity and Junior Varsity Divisions Three Stop Clock Periods, 12-12-15
Tag up off sides for Varsity and Junior Varsity Divisions only
No time outs except Championship games
No Ice Cut Except Championship Varsity Game
7 Goal & 10 Goal Advantage Mercy Rule will be in effect
Tournament finalists will be determined on a point system based on the following:
Period Win = 1 point Game Win = 2 points
Period Tie = ½ point Game Tie = 1 point
Period Loss = 0 points Game Loss = 0 points
Total Points per Game = 5
The top two teams in points in each division will play in the Championship game. If two teams are tied, then the following tie breakers will be used to determine
either the home team for the Championship game or the #2 seed.
1st Tie Breaker - Head to Head
2nd Tie Breaker - Least Penalty Minutes
3rd Tie Breaker - Goals Against differential
4th Tie Breaker - Least Goals allowed
5th Tie Breaker - Goals Scored
6th Tie Breaker - Coin Flip
****Stamped and Signed USA Hockey rosters are required 48 hour prior to the tournament.****
Freshmen division will consist of players 5th to 9th grade
Junior Varsity division will consist of players 8th to 11th grade
Varsity division will consist of players 9th to 12th grade
* Note - 9th graders can play at all levels
Home teams will wear white jerseys
Game suspensions assessed prior to the tournament will be served in accordance with USA Hockey rules.
If the Championship game is tied after regulation, the teams will then play 4 minute overtimes without switching ends until a winner is determined.
The 1st overtime will be 5 on 5
The 2nd overtime will be 4 on 4
The 3rd overtime will be 3 on 3
Subsequent overtimes will be 3 on 3
Penalties will carryover from overtime period to overtime period. If a player takes a penalty in the 2nd overtime that will carryover into the 3rd overtime, the non-offending team will be place an extra player on the ice to begin the the 3rd period and the teams will skate 4 on 3. When the penalty terminates, the player in the penalty box or a player from the bench will go on the ice and the teams will skate 4 on 4 until the next stoppage of play at which time the teams will skate 3 on 3.
All other current USA Hockey Rules will be in effect.
